Freedom Financial Network

A PRIVATELY-HELD FINANCIAL SERVICES COMPANY, based in San Mateo, CA - provides unique financial  services to consumers for unsecured debt (debt settlement) and Federal income taxes (tax settlement)  As the client-base grew, so did the companies internal operations, spanning three geographical dispersed locations.  The owners realized new thinking and strategies, embracing technology, and creating quality improvement programs were all critical necessities.

MC Solutions was retained to provide executive leadership, strategic planning, operational improvement initiatives, facilities management & development, technology administration, business process improvements, and more.  Over the course of two years, MC Solutions defined & refined, developed & re-developed, and implemented a variety of project & program strategies & improvements, to not only keep up with the explosive growth which occurred, but also develop staff and systems for the future,  New initiatives, wholesale replacements, and standard daily management of staff, systems & resources were provided with excellence.

Sierra Select Distributors

This family-owned business based in North Highlands, CA – a suburb of Sacramento – sells appliances and electronics to a retail dealer network across northern California, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii.  While growing to over $40M in revenues, the owners and management realized it could no longer effectively support its business and growth with its existing operations and technology infrastructure.

MC Solutions was retained to provide consultative services across a broad spectrum of disciplines, beginning with an assessment of the current business environment.  Technical and operational requirements were subsequently defined, and an overall Technology and Operational Plan was developed.  Key components in the plan included upgrading the network infrastructure for reliability and performance, replacing the existing telephone system, replacing the existing ERP database (for warehousing and accounting), and replacing the existing corporate website.

The company believes its investment in new technology and changes to its operational procedures will return within a 2-year timeframe through increased revenues and reduced operational costs.

Daily Balance

A CPA with over 500 clients nationwide desired a new business model, with the goals of reducing operating costs, improving customer satisfaction, and implementing new technology capabilities.

MC Solutions was retained in a consultative role to develop the technology strategies, as well as the sales & marketing tactics. Scanning technology enabled the "uploading" of source documents to a secure website, and enabled clients to realize a true paperless office. Bookkeeping and accounting functions became virtual: the bookkeeper could view the scanned images, make the appropriate financial entries, and produce real-time financial reporting -- all accessible by the client through the secured website. Clients were trained remotely via telephone, e-mail, real-time chat sessions, fax, and online tutorials on the website.

The combination of the reduced operational costs for the CPA, combined with increased customer and staff satisfaction, was a clear indication that the concept was indeed real and purposeful. The CPA was able to pass on his savings through lower monthly fees to his clients. There is no question as to the results of the CPA's vision and, consequently, his ROI.

State of California

The Governor’s Office for the State of California operates several major websites for its policy divisions. One critical division, the Office of Planning and Research (OPR), assists the Governor and the Administration in land-use planning, research, and liaison with local government; small business advocacy; rural policy; environmental justice; renewable energy research and support; innovation in government; service, volunteerism, and mentoring; policy and legislative research and support; community vitalization and development; and coordination of interagency task forces.

MC Solutions was retained to evaluate the existing OPR website with an eye toward improving state-wide communications of these critical policy issues and at the same time serve the diverse user base that visits the site daily. The website had been cobbled together over the years by many agencies and, consequently, users repeatedly complained to OPR staff of their inability to access vital documents and policies.

After conducting a user-needs assessment and determining publishing needs for all the agencies connected with the site, MC Solutions redesigned the web architecture, created a new look and feel, prepared a long-term site publishing strategy, designed new logos and navigation icons, and managed the preparation of new content as well as the revisions of existing content to optimize it for an online audience.

The revised OPR site has been retained despite the change in gubernatorial leadership, and has become a model for new websites throughout California state government.

Intellalab

MC Solutions was retained by a builder/manufacturer of modular classrooms. Beginning with an analysis of current business processes, sales strategies, and market opportunities, a new strategy was developed to address the State of California’s education market for portable classrooms.

The Intellalab strategy was created; a turnkey solution combining a modular classroom with computing technology, Internet access, and a software portal for online educational software. The solution was marketed to the education community throughout the state, including public schools, private schools, and charter schools, across grades K-12.

The new strategy resulted in a 200% annualized increase in sales. The Intellalab concept was accepted by Montessori schools statewide and gained recognition from state educators as a footprint for the future of computerized classrooms. This solution offered school districts an alternative to retrofitting existing or new classrooms for computerization.
